Psychological aspects in planning

The course reviews different aspects of the emotional, cognitive and social relationship of individuals and groups with their physical environment. Throughout the course, we examine the relations between natural and built environments and people that use them as psychological, social and political beings. In addition, we discuss how this knowledge is applicable to planning and designing healthier, friendlier, and more equitable environments for people.

During the course, students are introduced to such aspects as: emotions, identity and cognitions in relations to the environment. In addition, the course delves into specific environments (residential, the city, public space, etc.), their implications on users and possibilities for designing them in ways that support human needs.
